MBK Partners Frank Brier, Dan Brier, and Donna Walsh Present on Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor Strategy, Compliance and Litigation

Frank J. Brier, Daniel T. Brier, and Donna A. Walsh of Myers, Brier and Kelly, LLP’s litigation and healthcare practices joined Joseph A. Bubba, of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, PC of Center Valley, PA, in presenting a seminar for medical professionals on recovery audit strategy, compliance and litigation. The November 21 program, “Preparing For Increased Government Health Care Audits,” was held at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center.

With the federal government deep in debt and the additional costs of health reform poised to further overwhelm the Treasury, the United States Centers for Medicare and Medicare Service (CMS) is accelerating its Medicare Recovery Audits (RAC Audits) program. While RAC’s mission is admirable—identifying and correcting improper Medicare payments—the unfortunate reality is that many innocent health care providers are stuck in the middle of confusing coverage and payment rules, regulations, procedures and red tape.

In its litigation and healthcare practices, MBK concentrates on the full range of complex matters related to corporate and healthcare law including employment, insurance, RAC/CGI, professional medical negligence liability, fraud and abuse and Stark anti-kickback statute, qui tam, medical staff fair hearings, non-profit and health care compliance, electronic health records, peer review, privileging and credentialing and professional licensing.
