In the wake of the resignation of embattled Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, The National Law Journal has published a story advancing the argument that the VA’s problems were much more deeply-seated than the recent scheduling issues and cover-ups in VA facilities such as Phoenix. Their research shows a long history of over 3,000 medical malpractice suits over the past 10 years against the VA costing about $100 million.
Cited as one such case was MBK Law’s representation of Iraq war vet Stanley Laskowski. The $3.7 million verdict confirmed that the VA had repeatedly ignored clear signs of PTSD and failed to provide adequate treatment.
