Voting Rights
Elections are democracy’s battleground and Pennsylvania is ground-zero. At MBK, our experienced Voting Rights attorneys fight to protect free and equal elections and we confront voter suppression in all of its forms.
Our Voting Rights team stays at the forefront of legal and political developments to ensure that our clients are prepared and protected at every stage of the election cycle.
At MBK, we represent government agencies and officials, political committees and political action committees (PACs), campaigns, and candidates in all matters relating to voting and elections law. We provide practical and reliable advice to clients as they prepare for elections, in the thick of the election process, or dealing with post-election challenges. Our attorneys are adept at representing and advising clients with respect to a broad range of voting and elections issues, including:
- Campaign finance
- Candidate qualifications and candidacy procedures
- Voter eligibility
- Election procedures
- Election contests
- Redistricting and reapportionment
- Claims under the Pennsylvania Election Code and Voter Registration Act
- Claims under the National Voter Registration Act
Our experience makes us uniquely suited to advocate on behalf of parties in elections and voting rights matters. Our Voting Rights team includes the former Chief Counsel to Pennsylvania Department of State and seasoned election litigators. In the 2020 presidential election cycle, we successfully defended the Secretary of the Commonwealth against challenges to Pennsylvania’s mail-in voting law and voting procedures, and challenges to contested election results. More recently, the MBK Voting Rights team advised and represented the Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus Leader in relation to decennial redistricting and successfully defended the new maps against numerous challenges in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and U.S. Supreme Court.
Our attorneys are battle-tested in voting rights and elections law matters. We understand the complex, sensitive, and very public nature of election issues. We fight to protect the rights of our clients and the democratic principles upon which our country was founded.
