MBK Secures Over $4 Million VERDICT in Bitter Shareholder Dispute

MBK achieved a significant $4 million verdict for its client, a shareholder in a closely held corporation.

The trial team lead by Nick Kravitz established that the controlling shareholder breached fiduciary duties, engaged in self-dealing and improper corporate conduct and deprived MBK’s client of the value and benefits of ownership.

Following trial and post-trial practice, the Court returned a verdict on the counterclaims in favor of MBK’s client. The Court also granted summary judgment in favor of MBK’s client on the claims asserted by the controlling shareholder’s son and appointed a custodian to manage the affairs of the corporation.

“This case was about protecting shareholder rights and holding corporate fiduciaries accountable,” said Nick Kravitz, lead trial counsel. “We are proud to have secured justice for our client and to have achieved a result that reinforces integrity and accountability in business relationships.” Kravitz added: “This was a great team effort. The amazing support I received from Brian Levy and Tracy Burke and the strategic advice of Bob Kelly, the head of MBK’s corporate practice group, made this verdict possible.”

MBK routinely represents clients in high-stakes business and commercial litigation across Pennsylvania.
