MBK’s solar project win streak continues. Neal M. Thatcher and Nicholas F. Kravitz, have succeeded in obtaining critical land use approvals for one of Pennsylvania’s largest solar developers. Specifically, Neal and Nick successfully represented this developer by obtaining necessary conditional use and other approvals for two (2) distinct solar-development projects in separate Pennsylvania municipalities.
For both projects, MBK provided strategic oversight, guidance, and representation, including during numerous contentious public hearings. Ultimately, even in the face of vigorous opposition, MBK successfully obtained project approvals from the local governing bodies for each project. One of the project approvals was featured in the media (https://www.thetimes-tribune.com/2025/03/10/solar-farm-approved-in-newton-twp/).
Energy demand is increasing exponentially in response to data processing, data storage, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based storage. To meet this demand, an “all of the above” energy strategy needs to be employed and embraced to ensure energy availability and reliability, and solar energy plays a key role in meeting this demand.
Solar projects depend on local land use approvals. Obtaining these approvals, however, has become increasingly difficult for Pennsylvania solar developers due to immense public opposition and rigorous ordinance requirements.
MBK is proud to assist energy companies navigate the challenging and ever-changing land use and development process to obtain crucial project approvals that are necessary to meet Pennsylvania’s growing energy demand.
